Did you know you can stay in Mayapur for just 100 rupees? The answer is Chaitanya Bhavan. From my experience, this is a proper guide to booking ISKCON temple rooms in Mayapur.

Nabadwip Dham and ISKCON Mayapur are holy places for Hindus on the banks of the Jalangi River. They are 130 kilometres away from Kolkata and are the best tourist destinations in West Bengal. The headquarters of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) is here.

First, ISKCON was registered in New York in July 1966. Krishna’s campaign started 500 years ago with the hand of Lord Chaitanya. ISKCON was established by Swami Srila Prabhupada.

Mayapur Iskcon Temple Room Booking / Guest House Guide

Accommodation in Sri Mayapur Dham is for everyone’s budget. At a time, they can accommodate over 1000 pilgrims. Iskon offers online booking for visits to Mayapur as well.

Mayapur ISKCON has guest houses with five categories: Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, A/c Room, and Dormitory for pilgrims and visitors to Mayapur.

Please note: Upon arrival, you will be asked to present your ID at reception. So, please carry a national ID for the Mayapur ISKCON temple room booking.

Non-veg items are restricted in Mayapur, even tea or coffee. So if you are uncomfortable with that, you can stay outside Mayapur. Even many staying options are in Navadwip, too. Famous hotels are:-

Mayapur ISKCON Economy Housing

On the way to Goshala, Gauranga Kutir is located. It has 100 rooms and four staff to take care of this facility. It was inaugurated in 2003. Currently, the room rent is 150 rupees. The next economy accommodation is Mayapur Nityananda Kutir.

Popular Bhavans for room booking

For staying, the popular Bhavans for Mayapur ISKCON temple room booking are “GADA Bhavan”, GITA Bhavan, CHAITANYA Bhavan, etc. 

My first visit is to the Gada Bhavan for accommodation. It is the main booking centre for Gada Bhavan, Nityananda Kutir, and Gouranga Kutir.

If you still do not get a room at the temple, try booking a hotel outside ISKCON.

1. Iskcon Mayapur Conch Bhavan

The Conch Bhavan is opposite the main temple centre of Mayapur. Green plants surround the Bhavan campus, creating a peaceful environment.  

At Conch Bhavan, the room fare is 8235 for a four-bedroom room, with a maximum of six people.

2. Gada Bhavan (All Bhavan’s booking office)

Room rent at Gada Bhavan ranges between 500 rupees and 5000 rupees. The reception can also give you a ticket for Mahaprasad.

Lunch is from 1 pm to 2 pm, and the ticket price is 60 rupees. Dinner is from 8 pm to 9 pm, and the ticket price is 50 rupees. If you stay in Gada Bhavan, you can get Prasad in the room. Please note that Bhavan’s check-out time is 8 am.

3. Chaitanya Bhavan

Next is Chaitanya Bhavan. We can book a room at Gita Bhavan, and the rent is 500 to 1,900 rupees. Chaitanya Bhawan Guest House is situated in the Brahmachari kitchen. 

You must book a room at least 1 month before your check-in date. An 8-bedded dormitory room costs 500 rupees but does not have an attached bathroom.

4. Gita Bhavan

My next visit is to Gita Bhavan. The room rent starts from 400 rupees with a shared bathroom, and the room rent starts from 800 rupees with an attached bathroom. Try Prasad in Gita Bhaban; it’s best.

5. Vamsi Bhavan

Next to the staying option is Vamsi Bhavan. Vamsi Bhavan is for Mayapur lifetime members. Those enrolled for a lifetime with 35500 rupees will be privileged with lodging and food here. They also get these facilities in other Mayapur properties worldwide.

6. Isodyan Bhavan

Next, we move to Isodyan Bhavan. You can also stay here. Non-AC room rent starts from 1000 Rupees, and AC room rent starts from 3000 rupees. To book an appointment with Isodyan Bhavan, contact Gita Bhavan.

7. The Cheapest room in Mayapur (The Gauranga Kutir)

Now we are coming to the cheapest room in Mayapur. The Gauranga Kutir room rent starts from 100 rupees with shared bathrooms. Here, 100 rupees will increase to 150 rupees in the future. They make rooms with fences.

8. Nityananda Kutir

Next, we come to Nityananda Kutir, another low-budget accommodation. They make rooms with bricks and shared toilets. The room rent is 300 rupees.

9. Namhatta Bhavan

Another option for a stay is Namhatta Bhavan. Here, you can get Prasad like Gita Bhavan or Gada Bhavan. The room rent starts from 250 rupees for two people. For four people, the room rent is 600 rupees. Ninety people can stay in the dormitory, and the cost is rupees 2500.

10. Sruti Bhavan

Sruti Bhavan Guest House is another option on the ISKCON Mayapur campus. It is especially made for youth and students, but everyone is welcome to stay here. It is in a peaceful, secluded area, making it the ideal destination for youth and students. They constructed this guest house in a spiritual and religious environment.

Youths and students can safely stay here at a reasonable cost. They can get a 20% discount on room rent. Moreover, they can use the monthly stay package at this Bhavan. From the main temple, Sruti Bhavan is a 5— 7-minute walk from Gosala.

11. Gour Nitai Dharamshala

The Gour Nitai Dharmashala is situated near Namhatta Bhaban. It’s another cheap place to stay, like Gauranga Kutir. Room rent starts from 150 rupees. The toilet is shared.

Room booking online in Iskcon

Mayapur Iskcon temple offers online room booking facilities for the Conch Bhavan, Gada Bhavan, and Vamsi Bhavan. 

The Conch Bhavan building is connected to the temple, and the Gada Bhavan building is about a 5-minute walk from the main temple. The Vamsi Bhavan is about 7-10 minutes from the main temple.

Note:-

On my last visit, I found that they allowed photography inside the temple between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., with a request in the security office beside the Lotus Bhavan.

ISKCON Mayapur lunch price

Prasad starts at 30 rupees, and the Rajbhog Prasad is 120 rupees. You can also have lunch at Govinda’s, an ISKCON restaurant, where the vegetarian thali costs 200 rupees.

10 tips before visiting Mayapur

1. Permission to take pictures is available at the Main Radha Madhav Temple by contacting the security office under the Lotus Building between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. You can take pictures, but video is restricted.
2. If an elderly person needs a wheelchair, they can get one by contacting the Padma Bhavan office on the left side of the main temple for a refundable amount of Rs. 500. You must submit a copy of a photo identity card first.
3. Before entering the Radhamadhab temple, a mobile phone, shoes, and a power bank should be deposited at the counter next to the temple for a 10-rupee fee.
4. Most of all, the room bookings occurred in the Gada Bhaban building.
5. Tea and coffee are prohibited anywhere inside the ISKCON complex. Special hot water called Ayurvedic tea is available.
6. Every Saturday afternoon, an elephant-drawn procession goes out to the temple premises.
7. There are car parking arrangements.
8. Mahaprasad costs 30 rupees. Those who want a full lunch or dinner can eat at Govinda Restaurant (pay at the rate card rate).
9. Harinam chanting takes place 24 hours a day at the Mayapur temple.

How can I reach the ISKCON temple in Mayapur from Kolkata?

The ISKCON temple in Mayapur is easily connected by train from Kolkata. From both stations, you get local trains every hour. Get down at Nabadwip Dham station or Bishnupriya halt station. From Nabadwip Dham station, you can take an auto, Toto, rickshaw, or van to Nabadwip Ghat.

You can take a boat from Hular Ghat to reach the Mayapur ISKCON temple. After reaching Hular Ghat, take a van, Toto, or auto to ISKCON’s Mayapur Chandrodaya temple. You can also get to Krishnanagar station and take an auto/ bus to Mayapur.

By car, from Kolkata to the ISKCON Mayapur temple is a 4 hours 30 minutes journey on NH12. It is 124 kilometres away from Radhanath Mullick Lane, Kolkata.

Kolkata to Mayapur Bus Route

Buses are available from the Dharmatala and Krishnanagar bus stands. Otherwise, ISKCON Kolkata also provides bus services three times a week on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
