Usri Falls is a waterfall in the Giridih region of Jharkhand, India. This waterfall in Giridih is a well-known tourist destination. Usri means a “beautiful source.” The Usri River is a tributary of the Barakar River that comes down from Parasnath Hill.

The waterfalls fall from the 40-foot-high hill in three separate streams. The falls are surrounded by thick forest. They are 100 feet wide and have stone surfaces. The water is strong and floats on the rocks.
My favourite author, Mr Satyajit Ray, was fond of this place. Satyajit Ray’s one of the best creations of Professor Shonku’s home is in Giridih. Every day, he comes here for a morning walk. Many other creations of Satyajit Ray’s have debuted in Giridih. In his literature, the name Usri Falls has been used often.
Usri Falls Picnic Spot
The picnic spot of Usri waterfall is a favourite place in Giridih. However, the area is fully crowded during Christmas & New Year.
Don’t forget to climb the watchtower, which has a wide view of Usri waterfalls.
The state government has taken various initiatives to make Usri Falls, Khandoli Dam, and Parasnath Hill more accessible to tourists.

How to go to Usri Falls
The distance from Giridih Station to Usri Falls is 14 km by Tundi Road. It is located on National Highway 34, between Dhanbad and Giridih.
The nearest railway station is Giridih; tourists can take a three-wheeler auto-rickshaw taxi or a tanga. The bus stand is easily accessible, and it takes travellers to the required destination.
The distance from Madhupur to Giridih is 1 hour 21 minutes, 52.2 km via NH114A. The distance from Usri Falls to Kolkata by car is 5 hours 46 minutes, 305.4 km via NH19.

My Holiday Story – How I Visited
On the second day of our Madhupur Deoghar Trip, we planned to visit Giridih from Madhupur at 8 am.
First, we went to Khandoli Dam & Park. Afterward, I returned to Giridih Station and booked an auto for Usri Falls. The auto fare is 300 rupees.
The distance from Giridih Station is 14 km, and it takes ½ hour to 45 minutes to reach it. The calm river water flows down through the mountain slopes into three streams.
After spending half an hour here, I returned to Giridih station by auto. At 2.35 p.m., we took a direct passenger train to Madhupur. It takes one hour to reach Madhupur from Giridih railway station.

We stayed in Madhupur for two days. On the first day, we reached Madhupur from Kolkata by Purba Express (8:00 a.m.) from Howrah Station and reached 10.30 a.m.
Afterwards, we checked into the hotel and rested. In the evening, we went to Pathrol Kali Mandir. On our return, we visited a local church and did some shopping. Lastly, I bought sweets from famous shops.
The next day, we moved from Madhupur to Giridih to do some sightseeing. There are many spots like Khandoli Park, Usri Water Falls, Parasnath Temple, and Jharkhand Dham.
That day, we visited Khandoli Dam, Park, and Usri Falls. In the afternoon, we returned to Madhupur by a direct passenger train. The next day, we moved to Deoghar.
